How to use Fabric Mockup
A repeat is only a picture until it is on cloth. This is the cloth.

Bring a pattern
Drop a tileable PNG, JPEG or SVG on the stage, paste one, or send a tartan here from the tartan tool. A sample tartan is on the chair while you choose.

Pick a scene and a cloth
Chair, kilt, shirt or swatch on the top bar. Set the repeat in centimeters and the cloth weight; on the kilt choose the pleat mode, on the shirt whether seams match.

Light it and turn it
Four named lights and four backgrounds. Drag to orbit, scroll to move in, double-click to fit; Full controls opens the lens, the key and the material when you want them.

Export
A PNG at 1×, 2× or 4×; a GIF loop; an MP4 or WebM turntable, or a breeze on the chair; an interactive HTML file with its iframe snippet. Save the project to your account to keep the drape exactly.
About this tool
Drop a tileable image — a tartan from the tartan tool arrives with its own sett and physical size, a repeat from the pattern generator or a halftone tile arrives as pixels — and it is rendered as woven fabric on one of four written scenes. The garments are generated from flat panels in centimeters, the way a real one is cut, so the repeat you type is the repeat on the cloth, the grain is a rotation of the panel on the flat, and matching a seam is aligning two panels before they are joined. The throw over the chair is settled by a cloth solver under gravity, with the folds, the self-collision and the hem that falls out of that; the kilt and the shirt are built by their construction. Every cloth has a weave — a 2/2 twill by default, the diagonal tartan photographs by — derived at the thread scale the repeat and the weight imply, a sheen where wool has one rather than a gloss, and a hem with real thickness.
Two layers of controls. The first is six things and one per scene: repeat size, grain, cloth weight, a named light, a background, and the pleat mode on the kilt or the seam matching on the shirt. Cloth weight moves drape and weave depth together because they are one physical fact. Full controls opens the depth underneath — weave structure, warp and weft stiffness, sheen and roughness, the key and the fill, the lens — where every value is what the simple slider implies multiplied by your own adjustment, so moving the simple slider still moves everything and nothing you set is ever overwritten. Exports come out of the same render: a PNG at up to four times the stage, a GIF turntable that closes exactly with one palette across the loop, an MP4 or WebM, and an interactive HTML file that orbits on drag, opens from a folder and asks nothing of the network.

Four scenes, written not sourced
An armchair throw settled by a deterministic cloth solver, a kilt on a dress form, a button-down shirt, a flat swatch — each generated from panels in centimeters, so the pattern's size is honest.
Pleated to the sett, or to the stripe
The kilt's back can show the whole sett across its pleats or center one chosen stripe on every pleat, so the back reads differently from the front — the detail a Scottish eye looks for first.
Cloth that reads as cloth
A weave normal and thread shadow derived from the structure you choose, fiber noise, a wool sheen instead of a plastic highlight, and a hem with thickness — the tells most mockups miss.
A loop that loops, a file that stands alone
GIF and video turntables close on the frame before the start, quantized once across the whole turn; the interactive HTML export carries everything it needs and never phones home.
Frequently asked questions
What image can I bring?
A PNG, JPEG or SVG tile. A file that knows its physical size — a PNG with a density chunk, an SVG with a width in inches or centimeters — fills in the repeat for you; anything else opens at the repeat you set. A file whose edges do not meet is rendered anyway and the status bar says so.
Is the drape the same every time I open a project?
Yes. The solver is deterministic in a seed the project stores, and its arithmetic avoids anything whose last digit differs between browsers, so a saved throw reopens as the same throw. Re-drape rolls a new seed when you want a different fall.
Why are there two layers of controls?
Most people want a good render in two clicks; some want every knob. The simple layer is enough for the first, and Full controls opens the second without the two fighting: every deep value is the simple slider's implication times your adjustment, so the simple slider keeps working and your adjustment keeps standing.
How big is the interactive HTML file?
About a megabyte: the 3D runtime is most of it, the garment and a reduced copy of your tile the rest. The tool shows the size before you save it. It opens from a file on disk, works offline, and honors a visitor's request for reduced motion.
